Never Surrender Our God-Given Right to Self-Defense!

Fellow Georgians in the 11th District, as your conservative candidate for Congress, my heart breaks over the recent tragedies that expose the deadly consequences of disarming law-abiding citizens. Just days ago, on December 14, 2025, a horrific terrorist mass shooting struck a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia. Two radicalized gunmen, inspired by Islamic State ideology, opened fire on innocent families and children, killing at least 15 people; including a 10 year old girl and wounding dozens more. This was a deliberate antisemitic attack on a joyful holiday event, one of the deadliest terror incidents in Australia’s history.

Australia’s strict gun control laws, enacted after the 1996 Port Arthur massacre, have left everyday citizens defenseless against evil. Law-abiding Australians cannot easily own firearms for self-protection, and in this attack, no one in the crowd could effectively fight back. A brave bystander tackled one gunman, but imagine the lives saved if even one armed good guy had been present. Instead, the victims were sitting ducks, reliant solely on police who arrived after the carnage began. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s response? Calls to tighten gun laws even further, doubling down on policies that disarm the innocent while doing nothing to stop criminals or terrorists who obtain weapons illegally.

Closer to home, we witnessed another senseless act of violence right here in America. On December 13, 2025, a gunman targeted Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, opening fire in a classroom and killing two bright young students: Ella Cook, a bold sophomore from Alabama and vice president of the College Republicans, and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, an aspiring neurosurgeon. Ella was a faithful conservative leader on a liberal campus, known for her courage in standing up for traditional values. Some reports and conservative news suggest she may have been hunted for her political beliefs, a chilling reminder of the growing hostility toward patriots on college campuses.

While America still upholds the Second Amendment, incidents like this show how quickly evil can strike in “gun-free” zones like universities, where law-abiding students and faculty are prohibited from carrying for self-defense. The shooter remains at large, and nine others were wounded, but thank God our Constitution protects the right to bear arms; rights that could deter or stop such attackers if more good people were armed.

These tragedies, one abroad in a nation that stripped away self-defense rights, one here where soft on crime policies and anti-gun zones leave vulnerabilities…prove why we must fiercely preserve the Second Amendment for all Americans and generations to come. It’s not just about guns; it’s about the fundamental right to protect yourself, your family, and your community from tyrants, terrorists, and madmen.

As a result, Sen. Schumer and the radical left are already calling for more gun control, jockeying to eliminate your right to self-defense and the freedoms we enjoy in America. We are not Australia, WE are AMERICA, and is high time we ACT like it!
